the Pele Tower, built to repel marauding Scots. Those who stay here say it is
haunted by ghosts, including the legendary Tom Fool. Visit the Tapestry Room

are ideally located as a meeting place for walkers. Just a few yards away is the
River Irt, a good salmon & sea trout river, which flows out of Wastwater
(England's deepest lake). Fifteen minutes drive away is Wasdale Head and of
course, Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain).
